To : Jay_Cookie,welcome this new blogger, "HER POSTS INSPIRE". BANANA A DAY KEEPS STROKES AT BAY.

Among the younger generation of bloggers who made an entry to the blog world and made a mark is Jay_Cookie, an awesome gorgeous lady, who has a good flair to choose good subjects, pick up most apt pictures and quotes in support of the material content and post in simple terms, in most brief manner to convey a lot. Presumbly she is pursuing her academic career and so she deserves all blessings from Allah. HER POSTS IN ESSENCE MAKE ME COMMENT- " JAY_COOKIE, YOUR POST A DAY KEEPS AWAY UNPLEASANTNESS EVERYDAY". Here is a simple blog on a banana a day can help keep strokes away.

It is a common adage that an apple a day keeps doctor away or a smile can keep doctor away. A team of researchers from Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Bronx, New York as well those of US Stroke Association concluded from their research findings that tucking in diet packed with banana which is a rich potassium fruit can dramatically lower the risk of stroke and deadly brain attacks. This study carried over in 90,137 post-menopausal women also concluded that even death rate among them got reduced when they consumed banana regularly on daily basis. A medium sized banana that is around seven inches long contains approximately 422 mg of potassium. Banana with it's dry matter 6-9%, 20--30% fibre and 30-40% sugars/starch is a darling fruit, with 2011 recording 145 million tonnes of produce world wide. Adult humanbeings need 4,700 mg of potassium daily and one banana can fill 9% of this requirement. Some foods which are high in potassium are white and sweet potatoes, bananas, white beans, broccoli and dates. Only caution is that those taking medication for diabetes and cardiac ailments should ideally take the advise from their medical consultants on limitations related the intake of potassium rich foods like banana.

Post script: Banana peel or outer skin is of nutritious value, that has known therapeutic properties too. It has high content of Vitamins B6 and B12, protein and fibre. The feel contains serotonin, a neurotransmitter that balances moods and emotions; lutein, an anti-oxidant that protects eye, reducing issues like cataract, macular degenration. Besides in some parts of the world, the peel is rubbed to skin to cure itching, reduce inflammation, warts, wrinckles, acne, psoariasis and to smoothen skin. Some people cook raw bananas with peel on and eat as food item. Most of the peels go as feed stocks to the animals, while they are used water purification to produce ethanol, cellulose, lactase and in composting. The dangers of throwing peels on floor is so dangerous that it took many a lives and causing serious injuries. Some films are produced based on the theme of peel.
Thanks to Aakash for inciting me to add this part, which avoided initially as I wanted to shorten the blog.
