Improvements in Cricket

A few days back I posted a Poll Make Cricket more exciting .

One of the suggestion made was to equip the field Umpires with a Hat Camera such that viewers can see what did it look like to the Umpire. We already have Cameras mounted on the stumps. Of course the Third Umpire ultimately decides the fate of the Batsman should a Decision be referred by Field Umpires to him. The Second suggestion was to give 5 runs for one bounce hit across the fence. This would tempt the Batsmen to lift the ball in the air thereby making the game more exciting as the chances of getting caught by fielders increase.

An American reader Twisted wristr confessed that he doesn't know much about Cricket , but in Ice Hockey the Referees are equipped with Helmet Cameras although not much importance is given as the refree is moving and his eyes may be somewhere else..

All those who saw the IPL Matches yesterday must have observed the Field Umpires sporting a Special Dark Blue Cap equipped with a contraption that did look like a Camera. Apparently some trials are ON and it would soon be a reality that we will get views as seen by the Umpire himself - let it be LBW decision or Run out / Stumping decision and less dependence would be on The Third Umpire in the Stadium.

My suggestion was my original thinking and I am so Happy that it was aready cooking and came up for trials so soon. I am Happy.

I am sure some day a one bounce 4 will be rewarded with 5 runs.
