Greatness- Thy Name is Humility.

Yesterday I posted a Blog Thanks Man of Dignity. This was to acknowledge help rendered by a chat friend in virtual world and showing that there are good people , ready to help even in this virtual World.

This morning MoD very humbly thanked me for the Post and thanked all my friends who praised his help and wished best for our friendship. In response I just wrote MoD Thy name is Humility and I started thinking about Humility..
]Humility is a trait and is defined as the quality or state of being humble; modest opinion of one's own importance or rank; meekness.

This definition says it all. I ran through my career of over 45 years and I realised that all the Great Persons I met in life, in good times and in times of difficulties, exhibited this trait fully - Humility.

I have met Stalwarts like J R D Tata, Ratan Tata, Dhiribhai Ambani and many. It was comparatively easy for a small entrepreneur like me to get an appointment and Whoa what an experience. At the appointed time , I met them in their simple but hugh offices. Absolutely clean tables, a well composed celebrity across it who had all the time in the World to listen to me and guide me. No phone calls to disturb and absolutely no interference from outside World.

This morning , after commenting to MoD that ' Thy name is Humility' I realised that all the Great people I met in life exhibited this trait of Humility. They never ever thought of their stature, name. fame and achievement when they attended to me. Hats off to them.

Another boy, if I may call him, that I met so many times is the Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar. Another example of this trait called Humility.

And how can I forget those two months with the Great Sitar Maestro Late Pandit Ravi Shankar in late Seventies ? He was then in India and I happened to get an opportunity to meet him. He was to Record Music for a great film Meera. All his disciples like Pt. Shiv Kumar Sharma, Pt Hari Prasad Chaurasia, Late Pt Vijay Raghav Rao, Pt Nikhil Bannerjee, were in the team. The rude Lata , at the last moment refused to sing for this movie by Gulzar. Late Pt. Alla Rakha was also there.

Now I recollect that all these Great Musicians of International repute displayed the rare trait of ' Humility '. Many years later , I happened to see Pt. Shiv Kumar traveling in train with me from Surat. I touched his feet and reminded him of my presence in the recordings. He was so nice to me, made me sit next to him and we talked all the way along.

This is Humility- a trait rare in the World today.

Today there are so called self proclaimed great musicians & guys who understand music; but who on one hand brag about their Greatness and on the other hand with multiple Handles Abuse in the filthiest way. God Bless them.

And there are many who though faceless, exhibit humbleness and Humility. God Bless them all , too .

Thanks MoD for triggering the thinking .
