Driver's Day

Today while commuting to the office in the morning, a FM Channel declared that we observe and celebrate so many Days in a year and that September 17 should be observed as a Driver's Day.

Good thought. The drivers who drive our cars, public transport taxies, buses, train are responsible for our safe and comfortable journey. Drivers drive trucks that carry various products to the markets.

I started driving at the age of 12 - of course clandestinely. I love driving but after I started my own business , I was finding the Bombay traffic too taxing and often the brain was thinking about something else and driving was becoming absent minded. I employed a driver when I was 32. I drive on long runs and dump driver on special missions My driver has been with me for the last 24 years. I help him regularly, but today , on the way back from office , I stopped in the market and gifted him a shirt- Happy Driver's Day.

I will not forget Sept 17 next year.
