IS INTERNET NOW POSING THREAT ?????? BEWARE

EXCESS OF EVERYTHING IS BAD....

A British mother was sentenced to five years in prison for cruelty after her two-year-old drowned while she was checking Facebook on her phone, the media reported on Saturday.

Claire Barnett, 31, was criticised by the judge for her “bad parenting” and told she posed a danger to any for whom she had responsibility during a hearing at Hull crown court on Friday, The Guardian reported.

Joshua Barnett died on March 17, 2014, after falling into a pond while playing in the garden at his home in Beverley, East Yorkshire.

Barnett was looking at her phone at the time of the boy’s death, it was revealed. She attempted to save the but he died in hospital later the same day.

While police interrogation, she gave varying accounts of what had happened in the garden of her former residence.

The court also heard how she had let Joshua play out in the road. Neighbours contacted social services after he narrowly avoided being hit by a car. Barnett pleaded guilty to four counts of cruelty.

Judge Jeremy Richardson said, “Your died due to your neglectful conduct. You will have to live with that for the remainder of your life. For a parent to behave as you did, repeatedly, amounts to consistently bad parenting.

“You pose very serious risks to any for whom you might have responsibility.”

awesome blog Sunny.....just reality to every Parent out there....the internet has taken control of our lives.
Working parents the 9 to 5 job,,,,,,,,,,evenings no time for the kids ,,,,its either Facebook, whatsapp or online dating sites...

Then you get the Parent who is an home executive ,,,,,just takes care of the kids and home ........but this Parent sits online ,,,neglects her or duty as a Parent for tragedy to strike....

Turning off technology and refocus on priorities you can reconnect with the kids....crucial time to switch off ...Sunny lets face it ,,,,it takes a second for your back to be turned for a disaster to happen especially little kids.....
awesome blog Sunny, the tragedies you mentioned is very sad,,,could have been avoided.
Cilla. it is true that technology is must for our life to make it better but not at the cost of our own family and our own kids.

SUNNYBUNNY, that's most unfortunate to say the least. In fact there are few instances of motorists losing control while browsing at wheels, ending up on serious vehicular accidents leading to deaths and grave injuries. The morale is, internet is like many other modern innovations starting from electricity to nuclear power; which if abused can prove to be costly. A blog in awareness, well done.
Rajive. very true, we must use the innovation for betterment and not for disaster.

Sapnaji. you are very right that mother herself include the father must be very sad on the sad incidence. Of course, the incidence could not have happened had she take bit care of her son, looking to the activities and keeping a watch on him instead of being busy on the phone.

It is also true that these days there are no elder person in the family to give proper advice to the parents on how to take care of their children and this culture of staying with elders is vanishing world over and everyone wants to live independently without the interference of their elders.
