She caused me a lot of stress and health problems after she broke her hip and began developing her horrible dimentia after that, three years and a half ago. But she also taught me to see the beautiful things in life, which keeps me grateful to be alive even in my toughest moments. She began taking me to symphony concerts and opera performances when I was only three and was falling asleep in the chair next to her, lol, thus developing in me love for art, a form of beauty we, humans, create which makes us superior to the other animal species... And although her existence now is reduced to her basic needs only and her behavior is weird, these are the things I will remember her with when she is gone and I'm happy I'm helping her with some more years of life. Happy Birthday, MUM !  ...And thank you  Happy Sunday to you, my friends !  On the pic: My mum last summer when my sons helped me take her out for a walk in the park. Yea, I think that "deleted " thing is happening to everyone  but the blogs are there ?? wish they would fix that  My mom turned 73 not long ago, and has had dementia for some time and broken both hips. I started taking care of my mom in 2002 while I was going through my divorce because my brother and sister made such a mess of things and did not want the burden. But my mom was always there when I needed her .. so by the grace of God, it is my turn to pay her back. And sometimes she has "good days" and those I cherish We only have one mom .. and they are very special.  Live the life that you love, and love the life that you live

I remember the last time I took my father to the opera. He was resisting because he couldn't hear well and walk steadily at his old age but I'm glad I insisted because he loved opera...
