Why so many fake profiles?

Question: why are there so many fake profiles on this site? Do people think we are so stupid to fall for it?

Technically, do not know.

EX: In his profile he says he is from Australia. But in a conversations with him, he sounds far from being an Aussie guy.

Interesting, five women have responded to this post. A little experiment for these women if you are interested. Do a search on this site and choose women, read a few of the profiles and let me know what you think. Example: a lot of women (supposedly from the US & Europe are using use terms like god-fearing, etc.,) - not one Irish woman has ever used the word God-fearing to me to describe herself. And their profile photos look like they were shot by a professional photographer!!!! (ok, bad example, but I think you get what I mean?)
Not sure if you are finding the same with male profiles but some feedback would be interesting.... Liam_06

Same with men.

Fake profiles are the minefield at online sites..
like here it is free.. they (attention whores and scammers)take the opportunity to have several accounts.

think about these items below:
1.) "too good to be true profile and pictures"

2.)he told me that he is from UK but does not know what is a "cupboard"
3.) a guy changed sex status (to a woman).. to compare services
4.) fake profiles are created by the site itself > for membership
