Until recently, I don't think I truly understood what missing you really meant. I always thought it was something someone said for the sake of having something to say without having to say I love you or I need you. Worse, it was just a casual whatever thought people used just because. Now, I know that saying to someone you miss them, it really is signficant. Missing someone can be a lover, a spouse, a close friend, an old friend, a parent or a sibling. The missing part is that you really do enjoy time you have with that person, no matter how much or how little you spend together and miss it when they are not around. Missing you really means, I think of you often and wish we had more time together. Missing you really means, I hope you are well. Missing you really means, don't forget to call. But more than anything, missing you really means, I'm glad you are part of my life and I wouldn't want it any other way. So, at the end of the day... I miss you. |

Cat, I always love to read your blogs, they always make me stop and think. I Miss You is no exception, I think it's a phrase we all have used without really stopping and thinking. "I MISS YOU" could take on a different meaning for everyone in your life. We miss old friends, close friends or family we don't see often. Or "I MISS YOU" can be something we use to describe the HUGE VOID we feel in our life when they're not there, maybe they passed away, or maybe someone who we enjoy being with and have such strong feeling for that we think about constantly, every waking moment...We miss the way they talk, the way they smell, the way they laugh, the feel of their skin, the twinkle in their eyes, the way they make us feel special inside, when we feel all these things, "I MISS YOU" becomes an understatement, THEN "I MISS YOU" almost always becomes a question back to you, How much do you Miss me?...... And we again search for something to help describe our feelings!! Gota Love it!!! You are right in that "I MISS YOU" can become an understatement, and it does become a question of "HOW MUCH DO YOU MISS ME?, but it also is an opportunity to hear "I miss you too!", which at the end of the day, we all want to hear said back to us. So, if it gives us other opportunties to describe our feelings, what would "I MISS YOU TOO" ultimately mean...? Does it start all over again?

I know exactly how you feel. I hope the missing gets to end soon so you can rack up some up close and personal time on the memory meter.
