A Beautiful Lady
At 9:30 this morning, I arrived for a visit with a beautiful lady. After hellos and hugs from her son and his wife, I went to her bed side. I looked upon the most beautiful person I have ever known. Her eyes were close and she was resting in peace having passed from this world just shortly before I arrived.
I know I have been blessed having known her. She was my grandfather’s aunt and just lived a few houses from me when I was growing up. We could see her house from our window. She always welcomed my sisters and me with a warm smile and baked goods.
She lived a simple life having few of the toys other people seem to need. Not that she was unable but that she understood things would not bring happiness. She was a true example of how to live, ninety-three years worth of life.
After saying goodbye, I visited with another beautiful lady. My grandmother, also 93 years old, sat before me unknowingly sharing her wisdom. I watched her as we talk. She is still able to live in her own house doing the cooking and cleaning, climbing stairs to do laundry.
After hugging grandma and promising to return soon, I pondered wondering if I have really learned the lesson gave by these great people. There are others that have gone from my life all of whom have shared their wisdom. It has been a privilege to have had each one touch my life.
Never take life seriously. No one ever gets out alive anyway.

Mickey this made me cry and remember my Grammie who passed away a few years ago at the age of 90. Ah, the pearls of wisdom from that generation are priceless!
Hugs for the loss of your Aunt in your life...she will continue to live on in your heart and mind.

That is grand your grandmother can still do her housework at 93! How wonderful! I had a great aunt, she lived to 93 also, used to go swimming almost daily into her 90s.. She was still driving well into her late 80s.. she did alot of charity work too.
I think we have alot to learn from the eldery.. They have so much wisdom and integrity. Such a great generation. I'm sorry your family member passed on. Take care.

93 WOW!! That's what I call a ripe old age. Don't think I could ever make it that far
You should visit your grandma more often dear. I'm sure she would appreciate it. Her life is not that long anymore ... and time flies by too fast. Go and visit her this weekend ... and if you can, every Sunday. It would be the highlight of the week for her.
We often regret later, for having forgotten to spend a little time with the ones who are dear to us.Renee

Nice looking waterfalls. Very pretty. Lots of rain here a few days ago. The water pouring off the side of the mountain was so pretty after two days and two nights of thunderstorms.

Hello Mickey,First let me extend my condolence to you and family members for your lost and pain, at having such a great and beautiful person depart from our mist.I loved my grandma, and most summer holidays was spent with her up in the country side. She died when I was about9,10 years old.She was in her 80's..Spending time with her and seeing friend again ,up in the country was something we kids always looked forward too.It still remains one of my best memories; days of my childhood growing up.. The picture reminds me of a river we used to go washing with my grandma on Saturdays..We took lunch with and would spend the whole day washing, drying the cloths on the big stone rocks. We fished for crabs, climbed mango, guava trees, drink coconuts water and eat the food inside, freshly picked from the trees,..Sometimes we just lay on a flat rock like the one in the picture and let the sun dry our skin from the dive we just took.Listening to the wind whistle through the trees, the sounds of birds as they fly from one tree to the next.We each of us kids( had something to carry on our heads on the way back home,Grandma would prepare the crabs that we caught for dinner and the fish.. After a delicious meal which was eaten outside we would(small cottage with two rooms)then set in a ring and let Grandma tell us one of her (jombies) or (booboo man) stories...She was a wise woman my Grandma;I still miss her after all those years.. Like Poetdancer remarks..go and visit the other Grandma as much as you can...Thanks for sharing and bring back memory's

That ( eyer one should have been 8 in brackets. We were eight kids..lol who slept in a small two bed room cottage at my grandma..During the day the table and chairs were down and at nights we parked them in a conner and had old cloths for bedding's spread out in the living room..My grandma had her little room and a bed that was too big for it. One had to walk in side ways..lol..The last time I saw that little cottage with it's beautiful trimmed hedges was 4 years ago..It has seen many hurricane's but still managed to stand tall. One of her brothers(my uncle) lived in that little house,I was told last Sunday he now has passed away..Now that little old cottage stands alone with her many memories..
