The past weighs on us Memories of moments bad and good like chains to this life Lessons learned, problems understood The trail here winds Through the valley of death Brush choked vines Never impede the path A fork in the road Was there a picnic here? Cutlery lying about The phrase seems so unclear Words to lead and guide Answers to questions unasked Meanings that change with time The light that guides is masked. What is the next stanza?
