MATURITY

What is maturity ? Maturity is the ability to control anger and settle differences without violence or destruction. Maturity is patience. It is the willingness to pass up immediate pleasure in favor of the long-term gain. Maturity is accepting responsibilities for you actions. Maturity is humility. It is being big enough to say, "I was wrong." And, when right, the mature person need not experience the satisfaction of saying, "I told you so."

So what does this mean to us?

Wanting instant gratification is a sign of immaturity not maturity. It is our inner showing it's head. The mature individual is willing to wait for their pleasures.

Controlling our tempers and settling differences with out name calling and slams is a sign of maturity, while name calling and slamming others is a sign of immaturity.
Maturity is accepting responsibility for our actions, not saying another should have been responsible for protecting us from our consequences.

A truly Mature person knows they have not reached a point of complete maturity, as we continue to grow and mature till we die, unless they are so closed minded as to continually stay in a state of immaturity.

So I admit I have not reached a point of complete maturity, I will continue to grow and mature. I think most people here on FF's fall in the same category, and guess we will just have to put up with the immature and childishness of the rest.

What are your feelings on the topic of maturity?

Nice gams

oh, maturity right...uh, well, there is a point in life when we have to start taking personal responsibility for ourselves and put away foolishness and silly notions. I guess that is the point where one begins to mature. It's an ongoing process. Then we soak in experiences and we become well rounded and intellectually worldly I guess. We begin to accept the wisdom of others, such as our parents, teachers etc. Then we begin to form our own hypothesis of the world. Testing our understanding of it's limits through trial and error etc. I guess I view it as a necessary evil or double edged sword, in that we all need to mature and grow and somehow become better each day, but we give up that spontaneity and youthful vigor and silliness that was so much fun in the process. I miss the irresponsible teen in me. Sadly he was crushed into dust years ago. The weight of the world was to much for him. Don't ever underestimate the power of a good immature raspberry It releases endorphins I hear I realize we all cannot remain a "Toys R us kid" forever. I held onto my inner child for as long as I could
Bill
PS. For those whom may not know.
Explanation one: A raspberry is the sound one makes when you close your mouth with your tongue sticking out and force air through it. Sounds like someone passing wind
Explanation two: Toys R us is a chain of toy stores that has a commercial jingle that goes," I don't wanna grow up I'm a toys R us kid". lol Sorta like the Oscar Meyer weiner song, well sorta.
