Frankfurt Fine Arts Museum

Lydia and I went to the Frankfurt Fine Arts Museum day before yesterday and for a walk about town.

This is a fairly good museum focused mostly on German artist but there were several good paintings by artist such as Van Gogh, Monet, Renoir and a few of Rodin's sculptures. I did find a German that I didn't know much about named Thoma who I like very much.

Of course probably the most famous of the paintings there is the one of the arrogant old fart "Goethe" laying down on his sofa.

It's worth a see if you visit Germany. The best part of the day was the coffee shop next door in the Liebieghaus Sculpture Museum. Old early 20th century atmosphere. It was the villa of Baron Heinrich von Liebieg.

You can get a great cup of cappuccino and some fine pastry there and get out of this windy, cold German spring weather.

Oh, that's one of my fave places to go in Frankfurt. I used to like taking walks along the Rheimmein and visit the museums, stop for pastries and kaffe at exactly that cafe and then walk home. On Sundays, you can visit the flea markets along that stretch. On the way home, I would inevitable end up at one of the biergartens and have a couple of pints. Brilliant.

In the immortal words from 6th Sense ... I see stupid people.
