Being long distance has more than a few drawbacks, as those on this site living through it - like me - know all too well. But there are ways to bridge the gaps beyond telephone calls or e-mails, and David (aka Mr. Wonderfu) seems to find these innovative ways to do it.
Last week he told me about these flowers his boss had brought in that smelled unbelievable. He said he wished he could share them with me but I'm too far away. Have to love a man who can appreciate that stuff.
Well, he mailed me one. I got it today. Sealed in a zip lock bag and still smelling unbelievable. It's a little flat, but that doesn't seem to impair its ability to smell good. The envelope and card he sent all smelled like it, and it's busy smelling up my bedroom as I write this.
But more than the smell, is the thought behind it. He wanted to share something beautiful with me, and didn't let the thousand plus miles stop him. Or think, I'll bring her a flower when we see each other again (in 43 more days!!) He went about making it happen now.
So to that sweet man with the beeping pants who lives in the furnace.....thank you for being Mr. Wonderful and for sharing him with me.

Awwwwwwwwwww, that is just sooooo sweet!
(But beeping pants? Ohkaaaay, I better stop free associating)
I'm dyslexic. I scream Ho Dog instead of Oh God in the throes of passion.

It was sweet....just like him
As to the beeping pants, he's going to have to choose to come here and share that one with you himself. But no free associating needed - it was all very innocent.

It is amazing how much the little stuff starts to mean - especially when you're far away. You and Riny are my heroes in that - a great example for the rest of us LDRs to take example from.

Thanks Dean! I'm sure your girlfriend would say the same about you.
Thanks for sharing the real you too - no sunglasses and some eyes would be nice as well. Then again, Belle does look beautiful and classy in her shades...maybe you were just trying to show off the same way.

Quoting beta34: lovely man this one. I can imagine the feeling you've got when opening the envelope I am very happy you found him
A very lovely man - and I can't tell you how happy I am he found me - and I was smart enough to find him back.
But the envelope....ah yes, the envelope....interesting story that one. I actually didn't open it. Drummer Boy did because he thought it was the PS1 memory card I bought him off of eBay last weekend. I don't know who was more shocked by it. Him having to call me to tell me he opened something of mine and a flower fell out - or me that he opened something with MY name on it.
We both got over it - and we're none the worse for it - AND it's served as something of an ice breaker where David is concerned. I've moved beyond slow with my kids and bringing David into the picture. Drummer Boy was none to happy when I got back from my trip in April to find who I'd been with and that made me move even slower. So to have him joke with David and I while we were talking on the phone last night, made me feel there was a little headway.
