This goes back a ways, but...... When my oldest son was about 12 he went next door to play video games with the neighbor kid. About 20 minutes later he is running back in the door and for the rest of the day he is quiet and can't look me in the eye. I ask him several times what is wrong and he says 'nothing.' Later that night he comes to me and says "Promise not to get mad." Uh oh. So he tells me that when he and the boy next door turned on the tv to play video games there happened to be a tape in the player. They wanted to see what it was so they turned it on and apparently it was in the middle of a hardcore porn scene. He says he watched for a few seconds but it started to scare him so he ran home. I choked and stuttered and asked him if he had any questions. (Damn his father for always being away on assignment when stuff like this came up.) So he begins to tell me a little and then asks if sex is painful. I asked why he thought that. He said, Well because the woman looked like he was hurting her and the man looked like he was hurting too and they were both yelling and shouting so he was scared that sex might be painful. I said 'Yes, yes it is. Real bad." He says,"My friends at school said they had sex before and didn't say that it hurt." I said, "Well then that's how you know they are lying." (Cripes, these were fifth and sixth graders.) He says ok, and I contemplated why I didn't just tell him the truth and hand him a condom 'saying I don't want you to but if you do...' But the truth is I didn't want him to have sex at his age. I also started monitoring when he went next door. Time goes by................ My son is 17, and one day he walks up and punches me in the arm and says "I love you." I asked what that was all about. He says, "You lied to me." Big grin all over his face. I knew exactly what he realized I had lied about and I grounded him. He brought it up the other day and still laughs about it. He says he still has a hard time looking at women's breasts cause he's afraid they will get pregnant. I NEVER told him THAT! LOLOL! I told it to his younger brother. |
